VIT Chennai wins top prize; Teams from IIIT Raichur, IIT Bhubaneswar, and a second team from VIT Chennai named runners-up for enterprise-grade AI solutions built on Google Cloud Platform
HYDERABAD, INDIA – July 30, 2025: Leading Agentic AI-powered Services-as-Software company, Covasant Technologies, has successfully concluded its first-ever National AI Hackathon 2025, bringing together the brightest young minds from top Indian tech institutions for an invite-only, one-of-a-kind challenge focused on building real-world AI agents and accelerators, which solve real business challenges.
A team from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai, clinched the top spot for their project on Agent Testing, designed to rigorously evaluate AI agents through stress testing, safety checks, and cost diagnostics. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of INR 1,00,000 and an invitation to take up a paid internship for six weeks to work closely with Covasant’s product and engineering leadership teams.
Three other teams, including one from IIIT Raichur, IIT Bhubaneswar, and a second team from VIT Chennai earned runner-up honors for their standout submissions in the areas of AI-powered intelligent discovery, conversational chat builders, and smart routing engines optimizing for cost, latency, and accuracy.
The invite-only virtual hackathon drew over 100 registrations from the select institutions, out of which 22 teams were handpicked to compete over a three-week sprint. Participants received direct mentorship from Covasant’s technology and delivery leaders, gaining real-world exposure to develop enterprise AI applications and agents.
